The Introduction of the Ipod

First i pod

Portable MP3 players became even more portable in 2001, when Intel launched the first "roomy" 128MB player, thePocket Concert, for $300. Intel's player was an initial success because of the low price and higher storage capacity, but the company killed off the Pocket Concert when it shuttered its home-electronics division later that year.

Also in 2001, audio-player underdog Apple introduced the first iPod, which had a 1.8-inch Toshiba 5GB hard drive and a large black-and-white display. Sold for $400, the first iPod came paired with iTunes software and was compatible only with Macs

Mp3 players replace CDs

CD Connected to an Mp3

In today's world MP3 players are the fastest and easiest way to listen to music, they are very light and are easy to carry around especially those who are on the go. However, MP3 players are substantially cheaper than CD players with advanced error-correction and anti-shock features. With so many options, it can be tough to know what MP3 players are worth shelling out the cash for - especially if you're working on a budget. The cameras and MP3 players are fun, but the next wave of add-ons for cell phones and laptops may help users keep track of their health. Technology has progressed to so much that the hard drive MP3 players are now reaching the 100GB mark. The players with flash that are released have more memory and are on the rise. Most of the headphones that ship with MP3 players are mediocre at best. MP3 players are increasingly replacing traditional CD players there.

Questions

1. What is the percentage of people that still use CD players
2. what is the next wave of technology coming our way
3.  why cant CD's store up to a 100GB

In 1989 they received a German patent for the MP3, and in 1996 the United States issued a patent for the MP3. Within a couple years the whole world began to see MP3 music, and players began appearing everywhere.
